Oka cheese is a regional cheese, originally produced by monks in Oka, Quebec. Here it teams with homegrown apples and fresh thyme for a sandwich reflecting local flavours.

  • 1 package POM® Rustic Buns (6)
  • 3 Laurentides apples – courtland, spartan or empire
  • 6 oz (170 g) Laurentides OKA cheese, sliced
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) chopped fresh thyme
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) honey


Preheat grill to medium-high heat; grease grate well. Core apple and cut into 8 slices. Grill slices for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until grill-marked and tender. Meanwhile, grill bread for 30 to 60 seconds or until toasted.

Assemble apples, cheese, thyme and honey in buns. Place sandwiches on grill and cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.
