Ingredients
Jalapeño Apple Slaw:
- 4 Dempster’s® Signature Gold Sausage Buns
- 4 All Beef Hot Dogs
- 1/2 Cup Grainy Mustard
- Jalapeño Apple Slaw (recipe below)
- 2 Tbsp (30g) Honey
- 1 Tbsp (15g) Fresh Lime Juice
- 1 Tbsp (15g) Rice Vinegar
- 1 Tbsp (15g) Olive Oil
- 2 Jalapeño Peppers, seeded and thinly julienned
- 1 Red Bell Pepper, seeded and julienned
- 1 Tart Apple (Granny Smith, Pink Lady), shaved
- 1 Red Onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 Head of Red Cabbage, finely shredded
Directions
- Preheat the grill to medium heat.
- Prepare jalapeño apple slaw, whisking the honey, lime juice, rice vinegar and olive oil in a large mixing bowl, until smooth and saucy.
- Toss in the jalapeño peppers, red bell pepper, apple, red onion, and red cabbage and stir to coat.
- Set aside and/or chill to allow ingredients to incorporate
- Grill hot dogs, turning occasionally for about 8-10 minutes until heated through.
- Split and place 4 sausage buns on the grill, cut sides down and toast for about 10 seconds until just golden.
- Spread with grainy mustard.
- Place hot dogs into the sausage buns.
- Top with jalapeño apple slaw.
